Brief Report

​

The workshop started at 9.00 am with registration and Sarswathi Vandana in the Auditorium. Dr.B.S.Kademani, Scientific Officer-G, BARC was the Chief Guest for Inaugural Ceremony. The Joint Director, NIFT Mumbai, Head Resource Centre from Bengaluru and Chennai were present on the dais. Two Resource Persons Dr.Mallikarju Angadi and Shekappa were also present. The programme was witnessed by all 31 registered delegates attended by the invitees comprising Professors, Associate Professors, Course Co-ordinators and the Officers and staff of NIFT-Mumbai.

The Co-ordinator of the National Workshop, Dr.A.N.Bandi conducted the Inaugural ceremony and introduced the dignitaries. He highlighted the importance and the objectives behind organizing the workshop. He read out the message of the Director to the participants. The Chief Guest praised the initiatives of the Resource Centre and the Administration for support. He underlined the importance of integrated websites for the libraries and indicated that Repositories are face of educational Institutions. He exerted the participants to derive maximum benefits from the workshop and implement the same in their respective Institutions.

The Joint Director touched upon the value attached to the Resource Centre to attain study desires by the user communities.

The programme concluded by proposing vote of thanks by the Co-ordinator at 11.00 am.

 

Technical Sessions:

The technical sessions began soon after the Inaugural ceremony.

​

The participants were engaged intensively by the Resource Persons and the co-ordinator of the workshop to achieve desired outcome. As such the hectic sessions for both the day’s yielded positive result and each one of the participants were given one to one attention by the trainers. The outcome of the workshop captured in the form of feedback. The co-ordinator designed the feedback form and distributed at the end of the workshop. Each one of them graded the parameters set out in the feedback form and tabulated as under.

 

Feedback:

28 respondents submitted their feedback out of 31 questionnaires served.

  1. To assess the scope of the content covered by the Resource Persons, a question has been coined to get the responses from the participants.  As such out of 31 participants 28 responses have been registered.  18 respondents indicated that the content covered in the workshop is complete and exhaustive, they have graded with “Excellent”.

Another 10 responses remarked with “

 

  1. The usefulness of the National Workshop conducted by the RC-NIFT was assessed. For which all 28 responses registered  with “Excellent”.

  2. To know the quality of Workshop organization skill and methods, a question has been asked to the participants and each one of them registered their response and graded with “Excellent”.

  3. To understand the resourcefulness of the experts, a question has been designed to get the feedback from the participants. As such all the responses remarked with “Excellent”.

  4. The techniques and tools including training methodologies were assessed through a question to the participants. For this an overwhelming 100% responses graded with “Excellent”.

  5. To know the Resource Person’s responses to participants’ queries during the process of learning, all the delegates registered their response with “Excellent”.

  6. As an Organizer of the National level workshop, it was intended to assess overall assessment of the event from the participants to understand and improve further, if any. The scope of the question ranging from logistics, IT infrastructure, hospitality, co-operation from the organizing team, administrative support and comfort level during the workshop period.  To this, 100% responses were registered with “Excellent” grading.

 

Valedictory Function:

​

Soon after completion of all modules of DSpace and WIX.Com Website Builder practices, a concluding programme of the National  Workshop held in the Resource Centre. The Head Resource Centre introduced the Chief Guest Dr.Sanjeev Kumar, Director NRC to the participants. The Organizer thanked the participants for their enthusiasm and requested each one of them to implement Institutional Repository and design and develop their respective Library Website. He asked the participants to send their queries if any related to implementation of the IR and Website during the process. The Chief Guest exerted the participants to be pro-active and learn new tools and techniques for sustainable development of their respective Libraries. He lauded the efforts made by the Resource Centre NIFT-Mumbai while organizing such a useful practical based workshop. The Chief Guest and the Joint Director distributed the Certificates to participants and the National Workshop concluded with vote of thanks by the Co-Ordinator.
